The OTT space is heating up, and Yugo Aosaki's Rock Paper Landmine Novel Gets Live-Action Series With Worldwide Distribution on Amazon Prime Video has emerged as one of the most talked-about additions. Here is everything subscribers need to know before the next binge session.

The Story So Far

Amazon Prime Video disclosed on Monday that Yugo Aosaki's Jirai Glico (Glico with Landmines) novel is getting a live-action adaptation titled Rock Paper Landmine that will stream on the service worldwide starting on November 13. The show will leading name Nana Mori as Mato Imoriya and Aju Makita as Kazahi Koda. Kazuaki Seki is directing the series.

Tatsuhiro Mishima, Shiori Ueno, and Daiki Kobayashi are writing the scripts, and Yuma Yamaguchi is composing the music. The Seven is producing the series and Akira Morii is the backer. Kadokawa published the original novel in November 2023.

The novel won three awards in 2024: the novel division of the 24th "Honkaku Mystery Taisho" (Orthodox Mystery Award) award, the "full-length novel or minted short stories" division of the 77th "Nihon Suiri Sakka Kyōkai Shō" (Mystery Writers of Japan Awards) award, and the 37th "Yamamoto Shūgorō Prize" award. Mato Imoriya, a seemingly carefree high school girl with an uncanny talent for winning any game, plunges into underground school game battles to save her best friend, Kazahi Koda.

What they stake isn't their "lives." It is their urgent "everyday lives" and "youth"—from securing prime spots for school festival booths to competing for 90 million yen worth of chips among students. High-level logic where a single step can be fatal, off-board tactics to outwit each other, and brilliant turnarounds that calmly flip the board from desperate situations.

A "bloodless survival game" by high school girls who risk losing all their youth instead of their lives. The curtain rises on a thrilling, high-stakes battle-of-wits drama combining unpredictable tension with the catharsis of completely outwitting opponents! Medaka Box artist Akira Akatsuki launched a manga adaptation of the novels in Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine October 2024.

The manga is ongoing and Hakusensha published the fourth volume on May 29. Yugo Aosaki's Undead Girl Murder Farce novels launched in 2015. Kodansha published the novel's third volume in April 2021.

Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing the novels' manga adaptation. The novels inspired a television anime adaptation that made its launch in July 2023. Crunchyroll streamed the series worldwide excluding Asia as it aired in Japan under the title Undead Murder Farce.
